5 Simple Steps To Reduce Eye Strain


Eyestrain is a common and usually temporary condition that can be caused by prolonged use of digital devices, reading, driving, or other activities that require intense focus from the eyes. Symptoms of eyestrain can include headaches, blurred vision, dry eyes, and discomfort in and around the eyes.

While most cases of eyestrain can be relieved by taking breaks, adjusting your screen or lighting, or doing eye exercises, persistent or severe symptoms could be a sign of an underlying eye condition that requires treatment. It's important to consult an eye doctor if you experience persistent or worsening symptoms, especially if you also experience vision changes, eye pain, or other concerning symptoms.

Steps to Reduce Eye Strain

1. The 20-20-20 rule



 This involves taking a break every 20 minutes and looking at something 20 feet away for 20 seconds. This exercise helps to reduce eye fatigue and strain caused by prolonged screen use.

2. Blinking



 Blinking helps to moisten your eyes and reduce dryness, which can lead to eye strain. You can try to blink deliberately for a few seconds every few minutes to keep your eyes moist.

3. Palming



Palming involves covering your eyes with your palms to create a warm and dark environment that helps to relax your eyes. You can do this by rubbing your palms together until they feel warm and then placing them over your closed eyes for a few minutes.

4. Eye massage



Gently massaging the muscles around your eyes can help to alleviate eye strain. You can use your fingertips to massage the area around your eyes in a circular motion for a few minutes.

5. Eye exercises



 There are several exercises you can do to strengthen your eye muscles and reduce eye strain. These include focusing on distant objects, rolling your eyes in a circular motion, and doing eye aerobics, such as moving your eyes from side to side or up and down.
